Photo Challenge: Shadow Boxing

I have finally taken a shadowed shot that I liked. This was very difficult for me. The first problem was that there is hardly any sun in Beijing to make shadows. Then when we would get some sun, my shots just wouldn’t turn out the way that I wanted them to. I still have a lot to learn if I want to just go out and get the shot. But I feel like this is part of learning, embracing the failure and learning to do better.

The photo that I finally chose as my Shadow Boxing photo is taken from just outside my window on the campus. I think that it is very apropos to my situation. The sun is going down just over the top of the building and plunging my once home into darkness. That’s pretty much how I felt as a was leaving Beijing. I felt that the sun was going down on a part of my life and I did not know when it would rise again. Here I am trying to catch the last rays of sunshine that I can possibly manage. Trying to savor every bit of sunlight before finding myself fighting through the darkness.

So here you are. “Last Moments”
